November 16, 2015 (Orange, Calif.) – Last Thursday, the Association of California Cities – Orange County (ACC-OC) announced that Assemblymembers Eric Linder and Donald Wagner have been named the organization’s “Legislators of the Year” for 2015.

The two leaders were recognized as champions of local control in Sacramento.

“Assemblymembers Wagner and Linder understand that cities are the hubs of innovation and ideas,” said Lacy Schoen, Chief Executive Officer of the ACC-OC. “Their actions and words have proven that they are friends to local control and we’re grateful for their efforts in Sacramento.”

Each year, ACC-OC honors legislators who demonstrate a commitment to Orange County and the surrounding region. The goal is to promote good governance by recognizing the legislators who advance smart and successful policies.

Tustin Councilman and ACC-OC President Al Murray presented the awards at the organization’s November 12 event.

“Both have helped ACC-OC bring its brand of public policy to Sacramento,” remarked Murray. “In fact, both Assemblymen worked very hard to advance an ACC-OC-sponsored bill (AB 1454) that would save our cities more than $70 million. They practice what they preach when it comes to local control.”

ACC-OC looks to enter the next year on the heels of a successful 2015. Partnering with hardworking legislators like Assemblymen Linder and Wagner, the organization plans to continually advocate for local control and provide the county with a hub for good public policy.
