CalChoice Executive Director Jason Caudle and Director of Procurement and Regulatory Cathy DeFalco will present at the California Community Choice Energy Summit in Sacramento this January.

The conference, which runs from January 22-24, 2020, will connect stakeholders from across the state with representatives from 10 leading community choice aggregators to discuss current programs, future plans and the changing landscape of the energy industry. On Wednesday, the first day of the conference, attendees can opt to attend a workshop on distributed energy resources integration and local resiliency.
The main conference will start on Thursday morning with a keynote from the deputy executive director of the California Public Utilities Commission. Sessions on Thursday and Friday will include discussions of best practices for CCA management, the impact of PG&E’s bankruptcy, procurement of renewables, joint power authorities, grid resiliency and rate-setting. In addition, attendees will examine CCA case studies from across the state throughout the conference schedule.
Caudle and DeFalco will share insights from CalChoice’s experience in their respective panels on Friday. At 8:30 a.m., DeFalco and five other CCA representatives will examine the benefits and logistics of membership in a joint powers authority. Caudle and two other CCA leaders will discuss different CCA governance styles at 10:30, covering the importance of voting styles and the benefits and drawbacks of different systems.

The Community Choice Energy Summit brought together leaders in the California CCA industry for meetings in 2017 and 2018. The summits were held in San Francisco in November 2018 and Santa Clara in November 2017.
