California Choice Energy Authority Leadership Addresses 2018 Community Choice Energy Summit

California Choice Energy Authority (CCEA) staff member and Lancaster Choice Energy (LCE) Executive Director Cathy DeFalco was a featured speaker at the 2018 Community Choice Energy Summit in San Diego on Wednesday, April 25.

The three-day event, held at the Marriott San Diego La Jolla from April 24 to 26, addressed a wide range of Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) topics including renewable power planning, procurement and financial strategies and energy portfolio risk management among various other CCA-related subjects. DeFalco was featured on the panel titled “CCAs Respond to Sacramento Outlook” on Wednesday, April 25.

“The opportunity to address attendees at the 2018 Community Choice Energy Summit was an honor,” said DeFalco. “Understanding and staying up to date with legislation is a key factor in effective CCA management. The panelists and I enjoyed updating attendees on the latest developments in the current legislative season.”

On “CCAs Respond to Sacramento Outlook,” panelists discussed the latest CCA-related legislative developments in Sacramento and at the California Public Utilities Commission. The panel also covered challenges and opportunities in CCA implementation and best practices for power procurement and planning, governance and contracting and community relations. DeFalco spoke along panelists Tom Habashi, Monterey Bay Community Power CEO; Lindsey Horvath, Clean Power Alliance of Southern California Authority Board Member and City of West Hollywood Council Member; Neal Reardon, Sonoma Clean Power Director of Regulatory Affairs and CC Song, Marin Clean Energy Senior Policy Analyst.

CCEA consultant, the Bayshore Consulting Group, Inc., was also present at the 2018 Community Choice Energy Summit. The Bayshore Consulting Group was available to provide information on their expertise in CCA program implementation, municipal finance, management, debt issuance, and administration.
