CAPIO Awards Tripepi Smith Clients with EPIC Distinctions

CAPIO logoTripepi Smith is proud to have supported three clients this year whose exceptional work products were honored with EPIC awards. The California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO) hosted its 2024 Annual Conference, themed “Your Communications Oasis,” in Indian Wells from May 13-16. Each year, CAPIO hosts an EPIC Awards ceremony during the event, recognizing outstanding communications projects across various categories, including newsletters, photography, community events, writing, websites and video production. The awards are divided into separate categories based on an agency’s size and budget.

The Award of Distinction in Graphic Design – Print category was awarded to the City of American Canyon for its Summer 2023 Parks & Recreation Guide. The brochure featured eye-catching designs to engage community members, share upcoming events and programs and support the registration process for summer recreational activities.

“American Canyon offers many great recreational activities for residents and visitors,” said American Canyon Parks and Recreation Director Alexandra Ikeda. “We wanted a creative, easy-to-understand guide to showcase these opportunities and encourage program participation. We’re thankful to Tripepi Smith for their excellent work on the planning, content and design of the brochure, which earned this prestigious CAPIO award.”

The Costa Mesa Sanitary District (CMSD) also received an Award of Distinction in the Video Production – Public Service Announcement: Consultant Supported category. Their award-winning “From Awareness to Action: CMSD’s SB 1383 PSA Video Series” campaign highlighted the importance of organics recycling through four informative videos and garnered more than 156,000 views on YouTube. These videos educated residents on their role in the organics recycling initiative and shared practical resources.

“CMSD’s passion for environmental education and community service really shines through in their dedicated SB 1383 communications,” said Tripepi Smith Senior Business Analyst Kaitlyn Wu. “It has been an honor to partner with the District in producing this impactful video campaign, along with supporting their SB 1383 outreach with a range of additional materials. These videos will have a lasting impression on CMSD customers and advance sustainability goals within the community.”

The City of Palmdale also received an Award of Distinction in the Communication and Marketing Tools: Newsletters or Magazine (online or printed) category. Their winning entry was the Fall 2023 issue of Palmdale Magazine. The quarterly publication is distributed to every household throughout the City and includes engaging language, graphics and photos about timely city programs and initiatives.

Palmdale Magazine allows our city departments to collaborate and share valuable information with residents,” said Stella Devine-Knight, Palmdale’s communications manager. “I look forward to working with Tripepi Smith on future versions of this magazine, and am grateful to CAPIO for recognizing us this year.”
