Civiltec Engineering Installs New Water Main for Suburban Water Systems

Over the past 25 years, Suburban Water Systems (Suburban) and Civiltec Engineering have fostered a long and successful working relationship. Civiltec has been Suburban’s go-to engineering firm for various types of projects that range from pipeline construction and design work to construction observation.

Suburban recently contracted Civiltec to deliver construction observation services for the Plant 413 Suction Line project. Located in Whittier, the project consists of the installation of a new 24-inch water main.

Suburban provides water to around 300,000 residents in a 42-square-mile service area. Its network of facilities pumps and distributes approximately 56,000 acre-feet of water annually. The new water main will support the distribution of water to Whittier residents.

For this project, Civiltec will review the suction line construction and associated activities, and assess the condition of the existing site facilities. Following this, the team will provide ongoing, full-time observation of the planned construction.

David Song will provide support as needed during construction as Project Manager. He has firsthand experience working with Suburban, including previous construction observation work on the company’s Plant 129 Reservoir R-1 in West Covina. He will be supported by Resident Observer Bryan Hellein, who also worked on the R-1 project.

The Plant 413 Suction Line project kicked off in October 2017 and is anticipated to be completed within 12 weeks.
