Officially launched in October 2022, Energy for Palmdale’s Independent Choice (EPIC) represents the City of Palmdale’s entry into the Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) realm. EPIC, a member of the California Choice Energy Authority (CalChoice), engaged Tripepi Smith to assist with designing its logo and identity system, developing a pre- and post-launch marketing plan creating and distributing the complex series of residential and commercial mailers required by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Other CCAs that TS has supported through the branding and launch process include Pomona Choice Energy and Clean Energy Alliance.
Tripepi Smith Senior Business Analyst Karen Villaseñor acts as EPIC’s account lead and Business Analyst Charlie Mounts and Junior Business Analyst Amanda Avery execute on day-to-day support for the nascent CCA, which boasts a 91 percent participation rate.
“The City of Palmdale is excited to offer clean energy at competitive rates to its residents, and we want transparency to remain paramount throughout our launch process and beyond,” said Tammy Salt, Energy Resources Manager for the City of Palmdale. “Given Tripepi Smith’s history of assisting CalChoice and affiliate member CCAs with their communication efforts, we were confident their team would be able to assist with EPIC’s launch and continual outreach.”
Team Tripepi Smith is deeply familiar with Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs) and has worked with several cities and joint powers authorities to launch or support CCAs. In 2018, CalChoice engaged Tripepi Smith to assist in its marketing and communications efforts, including content development, graphic design, associate member recruitment and relations, videography and media relations. Since then, Tripepi Smith has provided continual support for not only CalChoice but also its associate members: Lancaster Energy, San Jacinto Power, Pico Rivera Innovative Municipal Energy, Rancho Mirage Energy Authority, Apple Valley Clean Energy, Pomona Choice Energy, Santa Barbara Choice Energy and, most recently, Energy for Palmdale’s Independent Choice.
“I’m proud to add Palmdale EPIC to our growing list of CCA clients,” said Karen. “Our team’s experience and knowledge of CCA communications is unparalleled, and we’re excited to partner with the EPIC team in their exciting pursue of clean energy options for their community.”
Tripepi Smith will continue to support EPIC post-launch with regular communication management and guidance including social media support, content development for monthly news articles, a quarterly e-newsletter and website maintenance.
