California Choice Energy Authority (CalChoice) continues its “Meet the CCA Team” article series by highlighting associate member Rancho Mirage Energy Authority (RMEA). Launched in 2018, RMEA is the locally managed public energy provider for the City of Rancho Mirage.
RMEA offers clean power alternatives at competitive rates to residents and local businesses. The CCA provides a range of energy options, including a 30+% renewable energy plan called “Base Choice,” a 100% renewable energy option called “Premium Renewable Choice” and a no up-front cost solar plus battery option called “Power Choice.” Since RMEA’s inception, the CCA has saved customers over $3 million.
RMEA’s commitment to promoting local innovation and sustainable energy projects would not be possible without its dedicated team of staff. RMEA’s team is led by Isaiah Hagerman, who also serves the community as City Manager. He works closely with Jessica Pulliam, Deputy of Sustainability, and Kofi Antobam, Director of Administrative Services, to implement strategic goals and policies set by City Council and verify the efficient operation of RMEA’s services.
“Providing a top-tier service to our customers in the most productive and cost-efficient way is important to RMEA,” said Isaiah. “Our initiatives, programs and energy options work together to ensure that we are enhancing the well-being of our community.”
RMEA’s programs are geared towards helping residents and local businesses address current needs. Most recently, the CCA launched a Distributed Microgrid Program in response to an increase in energy demand. The program ensures a stable electricity supply and promotes grid resilience.
