In the latest installment of California Choice Energy Authority’s (CalChoice) “Meet the CCA Team” series, we’re highlighting Pomona Choice Energy, which marked five years of service to the community on October 1, 2025. Since its launch, PCE has provided residents and businesses with cleaner, more affordable energy while helping Pomona advance its climate and sustainability goals.
“Pomona Choice Energy is about giving our community choices where there were none before,” said City of Pomona Environmental Manager and CalChoice Board Member Alternate Julie Carver. “In just five years, we’ve delivered savings, expanded programs and strengthened the City’s commitment to a sustainable future.”
Over the past half-decade, Pomona Choice Energy has been guided by a dedicated group of City staff and partners who bring expertise in energy planning, financial management and community engagement. Their efforts have ensured that Pomona Choice continues to deliver meaningful savings while expanding programs that support cleaner energy use.
This year, Pomona Choice Energy’s primary goal is to secure a three percent discount compared to Southern California Edison rates, helping residents and businesses save money on their bills. The agency is also prioritizing customer education to increase awareness of clean energy options, Pomona’s climate initiatives and the tools available to manage energy use.
Looking to the future, Pomona Choice Energy is committed to improving grid reliability through cutting-edge demand response programs that balance supply and demand, reduce grid strain and enhance service for the community.Since its launch, the agency has rolled out innovative offerings such as the Power Choice programs, an opportunity for Pomona customers to benefit from solar and battery storage without the cost of installing and owning a system.
