This year co-chairs Jessica Kahn, City Engineer, City of Monte Sereno, and Kurry Foley, Administrative Services Manager, City of San Leandro, created a fantastic lineup of speakers who are leaders in planning, transportation and transit, including the first female director of transit for SFMTA, engineering, parks, community and economic development, education and supporting students from low income background get to and through college, eminent domain and land acquisition law, physical and emotional wellness for girls and young women, city management, trauma informed system change and finally, the director of the department of social responsibility for the nation’s busiest port. A record number of women, 374, attended from all parts of the public sector throughout Northern California and eleven of their sixteen speakers were women of color, which was also a first for the WLS.
