New Partner, Leaders and Diversity Committee

BB&K Announces Changes for 2021

As we start the new year, Best Best & Krieger LLP welcomes a new partner, some leadership changes and a stronger commitment than ever to diversity and expanded client services.

Congratulations to Thomas A. Rice, who was promoted to partner, effective Jan. 1. Rice is a member of the Municipal Law practice group and serves as the town attorney for the Town of Apple Valley and as chief assistant attorney for the City of San Bernardino.

We also congratulate partners Charity Schiller and Elizabeth Hull, who join the firm’s Executive Committee. The firm thanks outgoing Executive Committee members, partners Stacey Sheston and Steve DeBaun, for their years of service.

“Thomas’ promotion to partner is in acknowledgment of his passionate dedication to his clients and successes on their behalf,” said Managing Partner Eric Garner. “I congratulate him — he has a bright future. I also congratulate Charity and Elizabeth, who have earned their partners’ trust with their dedication, thoughtfulness and legal experience. I know they will both play pivotal roles on BB&K’s Executive Committee, and I look forward to working with them.”

In addition, we are pleased to announce that Partner Ruben Duran will be the next Ontario office managing partner, replacing Brian Reider, who retired at the end of last year, and that Partner Joshua Nelson will assume the Sacramento office managing partner role from Partner and Business Practice Group Leader Nancy Park.

We are excited, as well, to introduce BB&K’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Headed by partners Sonia Carvalho, Alisha Winterswyk, Lutfi Kharuf and Mrunal Shah, the committee seeks to recruit, retain, support and advance members of our team from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds, promote an inclusive and diverse workplace, and to provide excellent client service that reflects diverse ideas, backgrounds and experiences.

“BB&K is a place where diversity, equity and inclusion are cherished values and ideals.  Forming the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee will serve to foster these ideals and make meaningful impacts on our firm and the communities within which we work, live and serve,” Garner said.

Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic downturn it brought, BB&K remained steadfast in its client service. As we enter 2021, we are proud to continue to serve them as we look to better times ahead. In 2020, BB&K made some changes to better serve our clients. These include:
