Nixon Peabody Continues Southern California Expansion with Public Finance Partner

February 21, 2017 (Los Angeles, CA) — Nixon Peabody is growing its public finance practice in Los Angeles with the addition of Danny Kim, an experienced municipal bond lawyer with a professional accounting background.

Danny has served as bond counsel, disclosure counsel and underwriter’s counsel on transactions involving all facets of municipal finance. These include: enterprise revenue bonds, mello-roos (a type of financing used by cities, counties and school districts in California), assessment district bonds, lease revenue bonds and certificates of participation, and tax allocation bonds. A former certified public accountant, Danny is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers.

“Our clients are navigating changes in the regulatory landscape, and the need for trusted advisors is high,” said Richard Jones, leader of Nixon Peabody’s Public Finance practice. “Danny not only has years of experience as a municipal bond lawyer, but his background as a CPA is a valuable asset to our clients and differentiator for our firm.”

Nixon Peabody’s public finance practice has a national reputation for innovative work in financing a wide range of municipal and infrastructure projects—from mass transit and hospitals to baseball stadiums, student loans, public power and housing. The firm is one of the top bond firms in the nation.

“As we continue to grow in Los Angeles, we are thrilled to welcome someone of Danny’s reputation and caliber to our team. He is a terrific lawyer with an entrepreneurial spirit and we look forward to working with him,” said Seth Levy, managing partner of Nixon Peabody’s Los Angeles office. “Danny’s practice is very complimentary to our LA office and public finance practice. He is a great, new resource to our clients who work in the municipal bonds industry, an important area of focus for our public finance practice.”

Joining Nixon Peabody from Norton Rose Fulbright’s Los Angeles office, Danny graduated from McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific and earned his bachelor’s degree from University of California, Berkeley.
