The City of Paramount recently enlisted Tripepi Smith to lead the RFP process for city attorney services, following the retirement of its long-time City Attorney of 27 years. This comprehensive process culminated on Tuesday, Dec. 3, when the Paramount City Council approved an agreement with Richards, Watson & Gershon and City Attorney Nicholas Ghirelli.
Tripepi Smith played a significant role regarding the management of the selection process with a focus on providing a clear process and facts to decision makers. Director Mike Egan and Junior Business Analyst Erin Pinkelman prepared and distributed a Request for Proposals for City Attorney Services, an coordinating with law firms about the submission information and updates.

Tripepi Smith acted as the point of contact between Paramount and the firms, allowing the City to focus on the decision at hand without needing to manage the influx of emails, questions and other administrative tasks.
To further support the process, Tripepi Smith attended interviews with the respondents, compiling comprehensive notes on the City’s feedback about each firm and providing tools that facilitated comparison of the proposing firms. Ultimately, the selection was made by the City Council as is the common preogative of the legislative body.
