Tripepi Smith Kicks Off SB 1383 Outreach Campaign for Town of Yucca Valley

Yucca Valley LogoOn March 17, 2022, Tripepi Smith kicked off a year-long project with the Town of Yucca Valley to provide education and public outreach for their organics recycling (SB 1383) efforts. This project will continue the productive and positive working relationship between Tripepi Smith and the Town of Yucca Valley.

SB 1383 requires cities to implement, monitor and enforce measures to reduce food waste in landfills. The State of California also specifically calls on local governments to provide adequate communications to residents so that they are informed of the policy changes. State Regulations will require local jurisdictions to fine non-compliant residents and businesses starting in 2024, and a strong communications presence is needed now to help residents change their waste disposal practices before the state-mandated fines take effect.

Tripepi Smith will provide a suite of services to aid the Town of Yucca Valley on this project. The TS team will be responsible for developing website content, social media content, an e-newsletter, a mailer and other outgoing media communications. In addition, the TS team will make available their expertise in media relations and messaging to the Yucca Valley Town staff. These services could continue to expand based on the evolving needs of the project.

“As SB 1383 rolls out across the state, it is becoming more urgent that cities get ahead of it with clear public outreach. California has developed some aggressive mandates that cities must implement or face staggering penalties. Ultimately, this is going to be a big change for residents and that kind of change requires effective guidance for residents,” said Tripepi Smith Principal Jennifer Nentwig. “Tripepi Smith is happy to be a part of the outreach process in Yucca Valley, and even happier to do it on behalf of a valued client. Yucca Valley continues to be a leader in communication efforts and collaboration with its residents.”

Tripepi Smith will call on its team of expert consultants to tackle this project. Jennifer, Business Analyst Sara Madsen and Junior Business Analysts Anne Jang and Kylie Benzing will be joined in their efforts by veteran waste consultant Michael Bailliet. The TS team is looking forward to working with the Town of Yucca Valley and managing any challenges that arise throughout the course of this project.
