CCMF Calls for Applications to Wes McClure Scholarship

The application deadline is approaching for the California City Management Foundation’s Wes McClure Scholarship. The scholarship seeks prospective graduate students attending a public or private university or college in California who best portray interests in pursuing a career in local government.

Wes McClure, who the scholarship was named in honor of, served as City Manager of San Leandro for 28 years. He passed away at the age of 94 on December 20, 2009. The scholarship was created in honor of Mr. McClure’s exceptional character and many contributions to the city management profession.

The $1,500 award, given to two students each year, helps to cover direct educational expenses, such as tuition or books. Students need not be committed to a specific area of academic study to qualify.

Applications are due by August 2, 2013. Submissions must include a cover letter, a 750 word essay and two letters of reference. Click here to download the application guidelines.
