Keenan Summit to Take on California’s Public Policy and Risk Management Issues

Professionals from school districts, municipalities and health care organizations from across California will gather at the 9th Annual Keenan Summit to gain insight on trends in public policy, health care and share best practices in risk management. The Summit, taking place on April 9 in San Francisco and April 10 in Burbank, will feature expert speakers, a health care leaders panel and a workers’ compensation forum.

Keenan & Associates is the largest privately held insurance brokerage and consulting firm in California. Specializing in proprietary programs for public agencies and healthcare organizations, the Summit is a natural extension of Keenan’s ongoing dedication to sound, solvent and quality solutions that best serve customers and communities. “There is so much new legislation that public agencies need to comply with in the upcoming months that it can be overwhelming. We have selected speakers and panelists for the Summit that will shed some light on issues such as the Affordable Care Act, Workers’ Comp Reform and Wellness Initiatives. We want the attendees to come away with information they can use to take action at their organizations and be ready to respond to changes in the work place” said Henry Loubet, Chief Strategy Officer at Keenan.

Dr. David Hunnicutt, President of the Wellness Council of America, will serve as the keynote speaker on both days of the Summit. As part of the Wellness Council for America’s mission to protect and elevate the health of America’s workforce, Dr. Hunnicutt worked with numerous organizations domestically and internationally to build programs to improve employee health, increase morale and control costs. Dr. Hunnicutt has shared his insights in speaking engagements for prestigious organizations including the National Chamber of Commerce, the American Journal of Health Promotion, the National Institutes of Health, the US Department of Health and Human Services and the US Department of Education.

Herb K. Schultz, Region IX Director of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services will present a session covering  Federal and State Initiatives for the Affordable Care Act. Other featured speakers at this year’s Summit are Board of Equalization member Betty Yee on April 9 and Dan Schnur of the USC Institute of Politics on April 10. Both presenters will address California state budget and public policy affecting schools, public agencies and healthcare organizations.

The health care leaders panel will cover a diversity of perspectives on public policy issues surrounding risk management. The workers’ compensation forum will provide updates on SB 863 reforms from defense and applicant perspectives.

The Summit is sponsored by Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, AssetWorks, Axium Healthcare Pharmacy, Conexis, Express Scripts, HCC Life, Health Dialog, Health Net, Healthyroads, KCOMM, Kaiser Permanente, Delta Dental, Liberty Dental Plan, Morgan Stanley, Prudential, Solid Benefit Guidance, LLC, Trustmark and VSP. “I think the Keenan Summit is a great event because it brings together thought leaders from vertical markets and you’re putting them all together in one room to exchange ideas, and that’s priceless” said Coleen Petty of Anthem Blue Cross, commenting on last year’s Summit.

The 2012 Keenan Summit was attended by over 550 professionals. Attendance is free; space is limited. To learn more about the Summit and register, visit:  www.keenan.com/keenansummit
