CalChoice Associate Members, Apple Valley Choice Energy (AVCE) and Santa Barbara Clean Energy (SBCE) Launch the PoweredUp Program

CalChoice Associate Members Apple Valley Choice Energy (AVCE) and Santa Barbara Clean Energy (SBCE) have partnered with Electriq Power to deliver the PoweredUp program that provides residents with fully financed residential solar microgrids that will help residents meet and supply their home’s individual energy demand.

The program bridges the gap between sustainable solutions and access, as customers can benefit from lower electricity costs, reduced impact on peak pricing rate increases and grid resilience, regardless of their socio-economic status. The program also protects against blackouts during power grid outages, giving participants the peace of mind they can continue to maintain comfort and safety in their homes.

“CalChoice is proud of the efforts of our CCAs to advance sustainability and accessibility in their communities,” said CalChoice Executive Director Jason Caudle. “The program SBCE and AVCE have launched is a perfect example of how our CalChoice associate members stand at the forefront of driving innovation in the renewable energy sector.”

In an era of rising energy prices and concerns about grid stability, this innovative program arrives as a timely solution. Within the first few weeks of launching, AVCE and SBCE have had many interested applicants. The program offered in Apple Valley specifically encourages local vendor preference and partnership opportunities for solar advocates and installers that enhance the program’s reach and local economic impact.

“As we navigate the complexities of energy, initiatives like the Electriq program offer tangible solutions to communities,” continued Jason. “SBCE and AVCE continue to promote CalChoice’s mission and we look forward to what the future holds for these associate members.”
