CalChoice Team Attends, Presents at 2019 CalCCA Annual Meeting

CalChoice Executive Director Jason Caudle, Director of Procurement and Regulatory Cathy DeFalco, and Treasurer Barbara Boswell attended the 2019 California Community Choice Association (CalCCA) Annual Meeting from Nov. 6-7 in Redondo Beach.

“As a member of the CalCCA Board of Directors, I am constantly impressed by the
organization’s hard work to advance the interests of community choice aggregators (CCAs) in California,” said DeFalco. “The Annual Meeting is an invaluable opportunity to hear from diverse stakeholders and leaders in the CCA space. I’m walking away from this year’s conference with new insight and inspiration about the path forward.”

CalCCA, which advocates for the interests of the state’s CCAs in Sacramento, hosts an annual meeting to facilitate collaboration and connections in the industry. The 2019 conference was cohosted by CCA Clean Power Alliance, which serves Redondo Beach as well as other communities in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, and focused on strategies for answering the climate challenge. The 500 attendees took advantage of eight workshops, four panel discussions, and two keynote speeches over the two-day event.

Caudle served as a panelist on the panel entitled “CCA Expansion: The Next Wave.” Drawing from his experience leading CalChoice, he provided insight about future CCA trends and the CCA-related issues facing local governments as the movement expands across Southern and Central California.

Kathy Wells, the Energy Projects Coordinator at CalChoice associate member Lancaster
Choice Energy, also presented. During her session, entitled “Achieving Climate Goals through Innovation and Collaboration,” panelists discussed how CCAs are spurring innovative projects that address climate change and advance local sustainability goals.

CalChoice has supported CalCCA’s Annual Meeting as a sponsor since 2017. All five
operational associate members of CalChoice are members of CalCCA, and DeFalco serves on the CalCCA Board of Directors.
