CalChoice to Present at The Business of Local Energy Symposium

California Choice Energy Authority (CalChoice) Director of Procurement and Regulatory Cathy DeFalco has been invited to address Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) experts and leaders from across California at The Business of Local Energy Symposium, June 20-21 in Irvine.

The event, “Community Choice Energy: Leading in a Dynamic Environment,” will take on the topics of accelerating local energy resource development via CCAs, sharing best practices and creating community benefits on June 21. A pre-symposium workshop, “Advanced Risk Management,” will take place on June 20.

“Community choice energy programs are making a major impact on our state,” says DeFalco, “with roughly 18 million Californians expected to be served by CCAs within the next year. The opportunity to network and share best practices with CalChoice’s industry colleagues at The Business of Local Energy Symposium will provide valuable resources that I can leverage for the benefit of our members.”

In addition to DeFalco’s presentation on collaborative procurement, the Symposium will cover topics including best practices for development and operation, legislation and regulatory proceedings, load forecasting, data management, storage and community outreach. Presentations also will touch on cutting edge research into advanced rate structure design and distributed energy resource building and energy optimization.

CalChoice offers support for local governments in every phase of the CCA program implementation process, providing feasibility services to determine whether a CCA program is appropriate, developing implementation plans for members to submit to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and managing the implementation process to launch the CCA program, as well as continuing to support members once their CCA program becomes operational.
