CalChoice Welcomes Members and Partners for the 2023 All-Member Meeting

The California Choice Energy Authority’s (CalChoice) All-Member Meeting on Thursday, November 2 brought together Associate Members and partners in Santa Barbara, home of CalChoice Associate Member Santa Barbara Clean Energy (SBCE), for in-depth discussion about regulatory affairs affecting Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs) and how CalChoice can help CCAs maintain a bright future.

“The All-Member Meeting provides a great opportunity for our eight associate members to gather, collaborate and learn from one another,” said CalChoice Executive Director Jason Caudle. “We are committed to developing bright and sustainable futures in each of our communities and this meeting allows us to develop strategies and solutions for meeting those energy-related goals.”

Kicking off the meeting, CCA staff were invited to attend a morning session covering Credit Support, presented by Pacific Energy Advisors to help the CCAs learn how they can enhance their CalChoice credit profile to thrive in an evolving power market. The session was followed by a presentation by NRG entitled “Power Market Updates,” which spawned a productive conversation about regulatory and legislative changes affecting the sector.

The afternoon featured a presentation by Braun Blaising & Wynne (BB&W), a partner of CalChoice, which generated discussion about the Income-Graduated Fixed Charge (IGFC). Following sessions covered various topics ranging from expansion plans for the Commercial Solar Plus Battery Storage program to strategies for implementing enhanced demand flexibility.

Closing out the day with a round-table session, each associate member had the opportunity to share updates from their respective CCA, including how they plan to maintain a bright future by building on program victories and learning from recent challenges.

Once sessions concluded, meeting attendees gathered for networking and social events. The group enjoyed a beautiful Sunset Cruise, followed by a catered dinner at the Anchor Rose. CalChoice thanks each of our sponsors for making these events possible.

“I am grateful that we are able to meet each year for our All-Member Meeting,” continued Jason. “Connecting with associate members and learning about how each one is committed to building a brighter future for their community leaves me with nothing but excitement for the years ahead!”
