CalChoice Welcomes New Lobbying Partner Strategies 360

CalChoice has selected Strategies 360 to lobby and advocate in Sacramento for the JPA and its 10 associate members.

“With California’s energy legislation continuing to change rapidly, we need a lobbyist to protect the interests of our associate members,” said CalChoice Executive Director Jason Caudle. “Strategies 360 has the expertise and experience we need. We’re pleased with the partnership and look forward to working with the firm.”

Strategies 360 will lead direct advocacy and lobbying activities including drafting and submitting letters to legislators and arranging meetings with decision-makers.

“CalChoice represents the exact constituency of energy customers that need to be heard and represented in Sacramento and our team of experts is so proud to be supporting such an important part of our State”, said Andrea Deveau, Executive Vice President at Strategies 360.  “We look forward to working with our State Representatives and ensuring that CalChoice and its Members are working together in partnership on appropriate policies to support the important issues facing CalChoice and its customers.”

The firm’s lobbying efforts will focus on key areas of energy policy relevant to CalChoice including California’s Renewable Portfolio Standards program, Resource Adequacy program, and Integrated Resource Plan program; investor owned utility rate matters that impact CCAs; transportation electrification; and any matters that may threaten a CCA’s ability to purchase energy and set its own rates.

“CalChoice has always followed legislation closely, but we’ve never directly engaged in matters through official support or opposition,” said CalChoice Board Member and Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “We’re thrilled to have Strategies 360 on board to help us implement strategies and techniques that will ensure our CCAs are fully represented in the state’s capital.”

CalChoice and Strategy 360’s engagement began in July 2020.
