Scott Nelson
Mayor Nelson first took office on the Placentia City Council in November of 2007, and has served as Mayor in 2008 and 2011. Mayor Nelson has served the City on the Planning Commission (vice-chair) from 2002-2004 and also on the Financial Audit Oversight Committee from 2006-2007. He was elected chairman in 2007. Mayor Nelson sits on a number of committees and commissions representing the City, including:
- Director, Orange County Sanitation District
- State Director, OC Division, League of California Cities
- Revenue and Tax Committee, State League
- Chairman, Legislative Committee, Association of California Cities
Mayor Nelson’s community involvement includes Chairman of the Board for Placentia-Linda Hospital, President-Elect of the Placentia Chamber of Commerce, former volunteer for the Homeless Intervention Shelter and Morse Elementary school. He is a past HOA board president and spent many years coaching youth sports. He is also a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Placentia.
The Mayor has owned Nelson and Associates Insurance for 33 years. His family and business have been in Placentia for the last 25 years.
