Melanie James Completes UCI Public Policy Making Academy

Melanie James at UCITripepi Smith Business Analyst Melanie James recently completed the Public Policy Making Academy II at University of California Irvine (UCI), Division of Continuing Education, a five-day program stretching over five weeks focusing on providing the basics on public policy and governance issues within local government.

The program consisted of topics or issues that cities deal with on a day-to-day basis including taxes, land-use planning, affordable housing, economic development, transportation, pensions, homelessness, and sober living. Each subject was led by 3-4 experts of each field. Though each subject could entail its own 5-week course, the Public Policy Academy delivered a high-level overview of information to help public servants or interested individuals gain understanding of the laws, practices, process and regulations that are involved in local government.

Karen Completes LinkedIn Advertising Course

Rolling Hills Estates Engages Tripepi Smith

The City of Rolling Hills Estates has selected Tripepi Smith to provide content development and communication support services. The goal of the engagement is to further enhance transparency and community engagement within the City.

In 2017, Tripepi Smith conducted a review of the City’s communications, assessing the breadth of its print and digital communication vehicles and examining Rolling Hills Estates’ website. Based on their findings,Tripepi Smith principal Ryder Todd Smith facilitated a discussion about city communications with the City Council and offered insights on industry best practices and new concepts in community engagement.

Tripepi Smith’s initial work expanded into a communications plan development process. The City Council reviewed the plan in early 2018 and is now moving forward with plan implementation. The work will make Tripepi Smith resources available to City staff to deliver expanded City communications.

Tripepi Smith Returns to the Desert for 2018 CCCA AMS

CCCATeam Tripepi Smith will head back to Indian Wells, CA for the 61st California Contract Cities Association (CCCA) Annual Municipal Seminar (AMS). Tripepi Smith begins the new year with the addition of Karen Villaseñor as the team’s third junior business analyst. Karen brings local government experience and insight to the team, having previously worked within the city manager’s office at the City of Walnut.
